It is our mission to provide a loving, secure, comfortable home to elderly dogs who have been discarded for whatever reason, and who are usually deemed un-adoptable by the average pet seeking household.
These beautiful beings, rejected for no fault of their own, after many years of devotion to an owner, will live their lives in a peaceful home dedicated to meeting their needs where they will be appreciated for the sweet souls that they are.

Old Dog House is looking forward to 2024. Our current residents will be with us until the end. The Old Dog House will only be taking in a new dog after a dog passes away.
Our plans are to relocate outside of Colorado. We have decided not to rebuild on our land. Over half of our property was burned and will not recover for many, many years.
We have been looking for property in Idaho and Montana but as of yet have not found the perfect place.
Needless to say, we are REALLY looking forward to 2023 and a new beginning.

SUMMER 2018 - FIRE ON THE MOUNTAIN
It was Friday, June 29th 2018 when I first saw the smoke off to the southwest. It was Saturday, June 30th that I watched a black column of smoke rise above the flames and I knew it was our house. We had enough time to evacuate all the dogs, our one little black cat, Bonnie and grab a briefcase full of important papers just as ash started to fall. July 4th the sheriff sadly notified us officially the house was gone.
The Old Dog House is now located in Yoder, Colorado and we are gratefully sharing facilities with another rescue who offered us a place to live while we make plans for the future and start to rebuild our lives. The flat plains of eastern Colorado is a stark contrast to our wooded mountain property but the ability to continue our work and keep our family together is an enormous blessing. 251 dogs have passed through our doors since we started in 2004 and the doors of the Old Dog House will continue to be open for those that need us.
